 Osun Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has given the nod for the upgrade of the College of Education Ilesha, the hometown of Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola to a university. Oyetola announced this while commissioning the Ijesaland Geriatric Centre, Ilesha on Thursday. He said: “Having looked into and examined carefully the request made by prominent sons and daughters of Ijesa Land, and Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran, Government has decided to upgrade the Osun College of Education, Ilesa, to a full-fledged University. “We have also engaged one of the nation’s best corporate Consultants, KPMG, to work out the sustainability plan of the upgrade.”

  The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Friday, said there may be no extension of registration deadline for candidates, for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The Registrar of the board, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, made this known while monitoring the registration exercise in some centres on Friday, in Lagos State. He noted that from observation, feelers reaching the board from states across Nigeria reveal that the exercise has been seamless, hence there may be no room for an extension.UTME t registration began on Saturday, Feb. 19 and will be concluded on March 26. “We’re not expecting any extension. I want to say that we are very happy with the way the exercise has been going, two weeks after it started,” Oloyede. ASUU strike to end this week -Minister by ABOBADE ABRAHAM OLUWATOBA The Federal Government has expressed hope that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) would call off its ongoing four-week warning strike this week. Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige dropped this hint in his office Tuesday night while speaking with journalists after a marathon conciliation meeting between the government side and ASUU. Ngige said the meeting agreed on many things and put timelines for the implementation of the agreements. 2022 UTME: JAMB reschedules mock examination by ABOBSEDUCATIONALCONSULT The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it has registered 236, 206 candidates within the first eight days of the commencement of the registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Direct Entry (DE) programme. This is as the examination body has rescheduled the mock examination earlier scheduled to hold on April 16 for April 9. According to the examination body, the record is a huge improvement when compared to its experience in 2021 when it said only 102,221 candidates were successfully registered within the same period.
